SL ST into next ST & Tie off yarn

Add eyes between rounds 6 & 7. Using the black crochet thread, create a “V” shape centered between the eyes for the smile.

Create the seeds by threading the black yarn around the watermelon flesh, working up one row at a time. When you reach the desired amount of seeds, tie off yarn.

Watermelon Rind (with Green)

CH 2

Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from the hook. CH 1 & turn (1)
Row 2: 2 SC. CH 1 & turn (2)
Row 3: 2 SC in each ST. CH 1 & turn (4)
Rows 4-38: SC in each ST. CH 1 & turn (4)
Row 39: SC2TOG x 2. CH 1 & turn (2)
Row 40: SC2TOG (1)

Do not tie off. CH 1.

We will now attach the flesh and rind to each other. Working in each row of the rind and each ST around the flesh, SC the 2 pieces to one another. Start by folding the watermelon flesh in half so the face is in the center. Work the first ST in the top right corner of the flesh and down the left side of the rind. Then work 1 SC across the botton then back around the other side. There will be a total of 80 SC around. Be sure to stuff the watermelon with fiber fill before closing up.

SL ST to the 1st ST and tie off yarn. Weave in ends. And you’re all done!
